My story
Our baby boy, Timothy, was born asleep on 27th March 2011. In order to create something positive out of his otherwise senseless death, we decided to try and raise funds for the Maternity Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital who cared so wonderfully for us and for Timmy during that heart-breaking time. In June 2011 we climbed Scafell Pike & Helvellyn and were overwhelmed by the support and generosity of our families and friends, raising over £16000 (our initial target was £5000!). The money raised was used to purchase a state of the art blood transfusion machine for the Critical Care Unit which we have been informed has saved lives. Due to the phenomenal response and outcome of the initial fundraising event and in order to keep Timmy's memory and legacy alive, we, and our friends and family, decided to continue with other fundraising events. We had cause to thank the hospital again in 2012 with the arrival of Timmy's little sister, Felicity, who was born prematurely at 33 weeks and received wonderful, lifesaving care on the neonatal unit. There were 3 events in 2012 which raised in excess of £2500 to add to the ongoing total. We would like to thank all those who participated in and donated to the classical concert in February, Dave Dowdall's Manchester Marathon in April and the 5 who attempted to cycle from Paris to London in 24 hours in June. In April 2013, Andy and our friend, Adam Firth, are running the Manchester marathon to try and raise a few more pounds for the cause.
Please give as generously as possible and together we can not only help protect other families from the terrible emptiness and pain caused by the death of a baby but we will also contribute to something that money normally can't buy - life! Your donation really could be the gift of life, and it doesn't get more special than that.
Thank you very much
Amanda & Andy xxx
