| My personal message: |
I did it! My time of 3:39:09 was 21 minutes inside my target time of 4 hours so I'm over the moon. Thanks to everyone for their support, particulary my 11-strong team of supporters on the day. And if you haven't done so already then there's still time to donate to Asthma UK. Thank you everyone! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for the 2008 London Marathon. Please dig deep and sponsor me - it's for a great cause, Asthma UK. Over 1400 people die each year from asthma, that's someone every 6 hours. And 90% of these deaths could be avoided with correct diagnosis and treatment. Over 5 million people in the UK suffer from asthma. People of all ages suffer, young and old. Treating asthma costs the NHS £900 million each year. I developed asthma in 2000 at the age of 29. No one knows why I suddenly developed it, but I did. I had an asthma attack out of the blue which left me hospitalised for 4 days. Since then I've had to adapt to life with asthma. With the right daily medication my asthma is under control and I'm able to live a normal life. Running the London Marathon will allow me to prove to myself that I can live with asthma. And I aim to raise £1500 to help Asthma UK's work to reduce the 1400 people who were not as lucky as me and didn't survive an asthma attack. Thanks for reading and I really do appreciate your sponsorship. Best wishes Tim p.s. for more info on Asthma visit the Asthma UK website which has a PDF packed with useful Asthma info
