Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Many of you generously donated in 2007 when I took part in a trek to South Africa raising vital funds for my favourite charity - The Children's Society (captured on video below left). This year I took the plunge and agreed to run the New York Marathon on behalf of TCS. Unfortunately, after training for months and covering hundreds of painful miles, I have had to withdraw due to a knee injury. The good news is my place has been confirmed for 2009, the bad news is another year of training!
Now running is definitely not my preferred mode of transport, in fact until now I have only ever run when being chased! This is undoubtedly the biggest challenge I have ever undertaken and certainly the first and last marathon I run! I have been training since April and still can't find anything enjoyable about running!!
I will also be completing this challenge in memory of my father who passed away in July. My memories of him and your kind support should see me safely over the finishing line.
The Children's Society will use the money we raise to help children and young people most in need. They believe that every child deserves a good childhood, and provide vital help and understanding to those forgotten children who face the greatest danger, discrimination or disadvantage in their daily lives; children who are unable to find the support they need anywhere else.
