Hooray! It's over - what a great, but achey day! The support was amazing - so many people chanting 'Timbo' especially support outside pubs! I felt great up until 18 miles and then it hit how achey my hips were.... and I've got runners toenail - it doesn't look good and will probably come off... yuk! I did the first half in 2 hours 20 minutes but the second took 3 hours 2 minutes, I'll have to work on duration if I ever do another one! So the final time was 5 hours 22 minutes.... at least I beat GMTV's Lorraine Kelly! Thank you all for sponsoring me, you all helped motivate me to train, and take part. I'd like to say a special thanks to those who came out to support me and cheer me on.
22nd March update: Yesterday was a 15 miler completed in around 2 and a half hours - but it's not about the time, I just want to get round, finish and hopefully do it without walking. All the support and sponsorship I've received has been excellent motivation and I just want to say a big thank you to all who have sponsored and for those about to - thank you in advance.
8th March update: Thanks to everyone who have donated so far. I ran 12.5 miles yesterday so the training is going OK - gradually building up the distance.
What was I thinking! I am intending to RUN.... and not run for 3 miles and walk the rest of the 2010 London Marathon and I would really like your support for my charity The Haemophilia Society. Having successfully run the 2008 Great South Run in and raised over £1,000 I'd very much like to repeat this fundraising total with more than double the effort from me.
At the end of April, (not long now!!), I'm going to be subjecting my body to 26 miles and 385 excruciating yards of pounding the streets of London all in aid of the Haemophilia Society. Being a haemophiliac all my life, I know what it's like to make your way through life with such a disorder and we haemophiliacs vitally need the support of groups like The Haemophilia Society fighting for our rights and providing support and the Haemophilia Society vitally need people like you to part with the price of a beer or 2... or 3 or 4... so that they can continue to provide the excellent service that they do.
So PLEASE dig deep, at least forego that beer at lunch and donate all you can to help people with Haemophilia. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I'll run my legs off for you.
