The job is done. 10 months, 10x10k races completed.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and helped get through the pain barrier. Your donations will help bring a smile to the faces of hundreds of children in Tanzania.

Varney attempts the 10x10x10 in 2010 (Ten 10K runs in 10 months to raise £10,000)

I thought it was time to update everyone on my progress. I have now completed 6 out of my 10 races. So I'm more than half way with my running but I'm only 1 fifth of the way with my fundraising. Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far and for those that are still thinking about it, come on, dig deep and help keep me motivated.

I have attached some more photographs that I took on a recent visit to see the charities work in Tanzania. EdUkaid is doing some great work out there and I came back even more determined to raise my £10,000 target.

I know what you are thinking? How is Varney going to haul his fat 17 ½ stone frame around one 10K run let alone ten? Well, it’s a very good question but I needed to set a target that would challenge me enough to inspire my friends to part with some cash or even join in and race with me.

So pictured left is me with my new personal trainer Keo.  Keo is the Varney family’s newest addition and like all Labradoodle’s he has got loads of energy. He is so committed to my fitness that when I get up in the morning, he is waiting at the bottom of the stairs with his tail wagging, leaving me little option but to take him out for a run.

My first race is January 3rd in Ringwood. My second race will be in , and I will be keeping this site updated with my progress through the year. If you would like to keep me motivated, especially through the cold dark mornings of training then please sponsor me and leave some inspirational comments or abuse. Some of you may even want to come and join me in one or more races?????

As chair of Trustees for EdUKaid, this charity is very close to my heart. Its latest appeal is called F.A.C.E. ‘Feed a child’s education’. To find out more go to www.edukaid.com
