My story

3 marathons in 3 days solo Accomplished Today :-)

I have achieved the goal that i set myself to run 3 marathons in 3 days today! (running good friday, saturday and easter sunday) It is a tough challenge when one is running long runs but 26.2 miles (42.2km) for 3 days was going to be a mental challenge to cope with in preparation for the 10 marathons in 10 days in May!

5 weeks until this incredible challenge of running 10 marathons in 10 days is very close now and i have been training all the hours that i can to get the mileage in, mostly challening with 3 children but it is soon going to be a reality next month while i join the rest of the athletes in may :-)

just to thank all the people that have donated so far, i am so grateful for the support and with your donations and my completing this challenge our young people can have the chance of a better life.

Just to share some training pictures of training at 4am in the morning and running 6.2 miles mondays to friday which is incredibly tough with looking after 3 children! the pictures says it all, i really have looked like that for many many many months now since september and i have ran about 1200 miles to date and the training is not over yet!

this coming good friday until sunday, i will be running 26.2 miles each, a total of 78.6 miles in 3 days in mental preparation for this huge challenge so pls still keep donating in my fundraising page :-) This challenge is not going to be easy as running solo is never easy but as that is what it will be on the day, it has to be done!!

Pls checkout the introduction interview video why I am doing the 10 marathons in 10 days

Just to update you about events over the weekend, I attended the 10 marathons in 10 days Training weekend and met fellow runners as well as the staff of Brathay Trust and received invaluable information from experts about what we will need to do to be prepared for this gruelling challenge of running 10 days in the very hilly lake distict.  With less than 4 months it is so close now!

Now the assessment of the scale of this challenge is absolutely beyond me while i was running on saturday morning as i just kept thinking OMG OMG OMG OMG over and over again, what really have i let myself in for????? can i seriously pull this off????  one marathon or even two on the very very very hilly course i can cope with but 10 (70 hours) days of that???????  I will not lie, self doubt kicked in, but i had to quickly calm myself down and just believe that I can do this that is why i signed up for it but it really is going to hurt a LOT and I am going to have to deal with that mentally as well as physically, but all this pain that will happen to my body over the 10 days will be worth it for children that are disadvantaged and need my help to give them the opportunity of a life!!!!

I am really scared and petrified but looking forward to the challenge at the same time, as you are reading this blog right now, dig deep and donate however small or big to sponsor me at www.justgiving.com/toks15 it is for a truly amazing charity and all your donations is going to brathay trust to change and empower disadvantaged young people in the United Kingdom.

Pls keep giving no matter how small or large, it will be greatly appreciated and all of the funds raised will be going directly to help disadvantage young people in the United Kingdom, so that they can have the opportunity of a better life.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  My name is Tinu Ogundari and I will be embarking on the journey of the ultimate challenge in the world to participate in running 10 marathons in 10 consective days (262 miles) in May 2012.  The inspiration of continuing to push myself to the limit is because of Sandra Robinson, who slept in the Lord on 13/04/05 (aged 36).

I found her attitude to life very inspiring to me. She had a fighting spirit which shone through while she was battling with cancer. She remained upbeat to the very end, always believing that she will come back to work and beat the dreadful disease but sadly it was not to be.  I will also be running in the loving memory of Foluke and Joel Ogundari (my Mum and Dad)

I will be taking on this challenge with 18 other extra-ordinary runners/athletes,  we are very much looking forward to this huge challenge.  No doubt it is not going to be easy but with great determination on all our parts, we are going to do it from marathon no 1 to marathon no 10.

Let me explain to you that it will take me 70 hours to complete this challenge on my two feet.   70 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this event is bigger than any other challenges I have completed in the past such as the London marathon or kent 50 mile challenge but i believe the cause of raising money for the children and young people is worth every effort and pain.

I will also be raising £2500 for the Brathay Trust.   Brathay works with many of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people to help them develop the skills, confidence and motivation to make positive choices in their lives.  it is my aim to play a small part in making the lives of young people in the UK realise their full potential, so that their life story does not end up like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfyXXGxf0vg.  We can all play our part with funds raised to make their future a brighter one.  The funds that are raised are vital to the development of young people and empower them to make a positive contribution to society.  Take a look at the exta-ordinary work that Brathay Trust do for young people, Brathay Trust is a charity that improves outcomes for thousands of young people across the UK. They primarily work with those under 25 who are most disadvantaged or vulnerable, and who have suffered abuse or neglect, social exclusion or who are outside employment, education and training. Brathay’s vision is of a society where all children and young people have access to formal and informal education enabling them to fulfil their potential.”  For more information about Brathay Trust, please visit :  http://www.brathay.org.uk/

Finally this video of the amazing runners that completed the event this year, is truely inspirational, http://www.cumbrialive.tv/brathay10in10/
