Tom O' The Wood Defibrillator Campaign

Tom O’ The Wood is partnering with AEDdonate to raise funds for the installation of a public access defibrillator (PAD) in their community. This vital life-saving device will be accessible to both residents and visitors in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

Located in the picturesque village of Rowington alongside the Grand Union Canal, Tom O’ The Wood is a charming country pub run by Chris, Charlie, and their pub dog, Boris. They are passionate about serving fresh, homemade food, sourced locally from nearby farms and suppliers. The pub is dog-friendly and welcomes everyone, making it a true hub for the community.

Why a Defibrillator outside Tom O' The Wood Is So Important

Each year in the UK, over 30,000 people suffer a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) outside of a hospital. Tragically, 620 of these are people under the age of 35, and 270 of them are children, often while at school or in public places.

When a defibrillator is used within the first 3 minutes of an SCA, survival chances rise to over 80%. That’s why having a defibrillator at Tom O' The Wood could be the difference between life and death.

How a Defibrillator Will Help the Community

Once installed, the defibrillator will be registered with the local ambulance trust and available for 24/7 public use.

This doesn’t replace emergency services. Instead, it provides immediate, potentially life-saving intervention while the ambulance is enroute. The quicker the shock is delivered, the greater the chance of survival.
