My story

Thanks For Visiting Baby Tommy's Fundraising Page updated 29/04/09 @ 06.30hrs

Wednesday 29th April - 2nd anniversary of when baby Tommy sadly passed away.

In Tommy's memory we have had a Star named after him.

Royal Mail, Bolton organised a series of fundraising events to help  raise funds in memory of Baby Tommy and their support was greatly appreciated - further information to follow.

Baby Tommy our baby boy Tommaso, (Tommy), Peter D'Attorre, sadly passed away on the 29th April 2007 at the tender age of 3 months 12 days after being diagnosed with Type 1, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, (SMA) - see news articles: Rare disease claims life of baby Tommy, Search must go on for cure of genetic disease and Tribute of love for 'our angel' Tommy. Poem "Our Tommy" a bud the gardener gave us, a pure and beautiful child, he gave him into our keeping, to cherish undefiled. And just as the bud was opening to the glory of the day, down came the heavenly gardener, and took the bud away. He gazed among the little ones, then stooped to pick the best, Our Tommy was the chosen one, in Heaven now he rests. All the angels hovered around him, this blossom before their eyes, so wondrous, fair, so beautiful, so fit for paradise. Our arms are very empty now, our hearts so full of grief, for us, who loved each day with him, now find those days so brief. So now, we trust him to God’s care and know some day once more, we will hold him in our arms again, when we open the garden door. Our Tommy was a little flower just lent to us for a while, now in our hearts he will remain this pure and wondrous child. Margaret Phelan, (Tommy's Grandma),  May 2007

Spinal Muscular Atrophy, (SMA) is a genetic disorder with no current treatment or known cure and is the leading genetic cause of infant death under 2 years old in the UK today and in many other countries throughout the world - approximately 1 in 40 of us carry the rouge gene. For more information please visit www.jtsma.org.uk (UK), www.famigliesma.org, (Italy), www.fsma.org / www.curesma.org, (USA) or www.iasma.net, an international alliance linking all the main SMA organizations globally.

Tommy's Angel Fund in memory of Tommy we have set up Tommy's Angel Fund via the Jennifer Trust for SMA. This fundraising page will help us raise funds for this worthwhile cause and we would appreciate it if you and anyone else you know could make a donation and forward this link on to people you know. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: the Jennifer Trust for SMA will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you - please donate generously and let others know.
