After a disappointing time in last year's race, the Tonbridge CCF's somewhat weakened team has decided to enter again this year and do better. This race involves a 14 mile run carrying a 55kg Keg, its hot, wet, muddy work and there is some strong competition. Nonetheless it is for a great cause, and we have decided that the procedes should go to the Hospice in the Weald in Kent.

Thanks for your donations...

Tonbridge CCF Team

The day did not start well as we managed to almost break one of our vehicles on the way there(see pics)... however some expert work from Max Maltby got us back on the road again, and we arrived in Wadhurst in good time. Constructing our carrying device did not take long, and so all that was left was to sign the death warrants, leaving more time to sabotage the Eton device, and spy on the Bristol Uni team. The race got under way at noon, and went well for us as we managed to follow the correct route this year. A close start left us in second position, behind the Marine's Barmy Army, however unfortunately this did not last long as we got literally stuck in the mud! In 6th spot, and in hot persuit of the Bristol Team, we battled on, and managed to finish just a few minutes behind them in 4 hours and 12 minutes (3 hours faster than last year). The winners of this years race were the Marines (AGAIN!) who clocked a time of 2 hours 20 minutes, smashing the previous record by 50 minutes in the process. Eton came in after 7 hours, but battled the hail storm, wind, rain and eventually darkness. We wil be back next year!
