Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
If you’re one of my work colleagues, you’re probably looking at that photo on the left and thinking “hang on a minute, that’s a marathon number he’s wearing. I thought he was a professional cake-eater?” Well, truth be told, I do indeed run a bit. Not that I keep count or anything, but since January 2006 I’ve actually done 3037 miles (give or take a few yards). This total includes 2 marathons, the Rhayader 20 miler, 16 (count ‘em) half marathons, and the odd 10k. There is method in my madness - the more you run, the more calories you burn, the more curry you can eat and get away with.
If you’re one of my running mates, you’re probably thinking “why are you asking for sponsorship money for a 10k ?” Well, truth be told, I’ve never tried raising money through running and this is a bit different. I’ve been injured for as long as I can remember and have already pulled out of 2 marathons this year. Since the Chester Half Marathon in May I have run a grand total of 1.7 miles. This 10k will be my first race attempt using the mystical dark arts of POSE, and as it’s an off-road course there is huge potential for some comedy face-planting in the mud. I’m even dragging the wife along to run with me – being as it’s 6 days after her PB attempt at the Vyrnwy Half I’m sure she’ll thank me for it later. If I can drag the toddler away from Peppa Pig for long enough I may even make her do it too.
'Hubble 10K’ is the project name for CSO (my division within BT)'s fund raising challenge and on Saturday 18th September myself and my colleagues (plus some friends and family) will be running / walking / crawling a 10km route at Colemere Countryside Site in Shropshire to raise money for Childline, the UK’s free, confidential helpline for children and young people.
If you can, please sponsor me and donate to this worthwhile cause - with your help we can support Childline and transform the lives of children all over the UK. We’ve set a combined target of £25,000 across all the events, but it would be really fabulous if we could beat that target and raise even more for children all over the UK who need help and support.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please sponsor me. I will be extremely grateful for any donation, no matter how small (every penny counts).
Thank you!
