In September 2010 I will climb Mt Kilimanjaro in support of the tireless and tremendous work SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) do for our servicemen and women.
What these men and women do for us is brave, admirable and heroic. In 2010 SSAFA celebrates 125 years of supporting the people who serve and have served in our armed forces, as well as their families. The services are freely available to those associated with the armed forces, giving them assistance with emotional, financial and practical issues. For more information on the important work carried out by SSAFA, visit their website at www.ssafa.org.uk
My biggest challenge in all of this is not necessarily reaching the top of one of the world’s tallest freestanding mountains (obviously this will be difficult!) but to raise awareness for SSAFA; as well as my own goal of raising over £50,000 for this charity. I would like to ask you to put your hands in your pockets and sponsor what I think will be the most talked about climb since Cheryl Cole conquered the mountain in 2009!
