Thanks for visiting Tony's retirement fund raising page. Tony Collins is retiring from his role as IT Training Manager at HQ on 5th December upon reaching the age of 65. Tony’s career with the Police extends for over 47 years. Starting as a 16 year old cadet at Aylesbury in 1960 he served in various ranks and at numerous locations including Burnham, Cowley, Bicester, and Oxford until finishing his regular Police service in 1992 as Acting Chief Inspector in AOJ at Headquarters. Just over a year later he returned to HQ in a civilian capacity to assist in the creation of the ICT Service Desk where he worked as a Help Desk Advisor. Tony joined IT Training in 1996 as a trainer and has spent the last eight years managing the department and the Force Casualty Bureau. When working as a Sergeant at Cowley in the seventies, Tony interviewed and recommended Gill Sedgewick for appointment as a Police Cadet. Many of you will know Gill as Sgt Gill Williams (QPM) who works in Tactical Support When Tony was consulted about a retirment gift he suggested that he would rather monies be donated to the ‘Hands across the sea’ charity created by Gill for Thai children orphaned in the 2004 Tsunami.
