We did it! Judy and I along with Nigel Bishop and a whole group of wonderful people all raising funds for Penny Brohn, made it to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro - all 5895m of it in Tanzania.
We took on this challenge to test ourselves personally, but also to raise as much money as we can for the Penny Brohn Cancer Care Charity. In October 2008 Celia was diagnosed with skin cancer - and following immediate surgery was plunged into confusion and was just plain scared. A visit to Penny Brohn, as well as the ongoing support, helped her to come to terms with the diagnosis, to change her diet and to take more exercise. As a result a year on she is healthier and fitter than ever - albeit with a rather impressive scar on her arm! Please help us to help Penny Brohn to help more people like Celia!
So far we have raised money through cake sales at Birmingham City University, dinner parties, ebay sales, mince pies and wine evenings, as well as a Ceilidh, a comedy night and a skittles night.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Incidentally the costs of the trip have been covered and all funds raised go directly to Penny Brohn to help them continue their wonderful work helping people affected by cancer.
Thank you for all your support!
Celia and Judy
