As you know, participating in the London triathalon (olympic distance!) is a huge challenge that I am determined to complete, particularly so as it will be only a year since I had a mastectomy to cure my breast cancer. Although my main objective is to complete the race and thereby raise lots of money, I would like this to be a fun day and have lots of supporters around me. I was so touched by everyone that supported me last year and am therefore raising money for 2 charities - Leukaemia Research fund and The Lavendar Trust, part of Breast Cancer Care. My university friend Cathy was diagnosed with leukaemia at the end of last year and is currently in remission after her first course of chemotherapy. This would not have been possible without the ongoing research that is happening to find a cure for this disease. I have a huge personal interest in raising funds for The Lavendar Trust and Breast Cancer Care, not only because I myself was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, but also due to some amazing people in my life who have survived breast cancer including my mother, my aunts Sarla and Jyoti to mention a few. I am also racing in memory of my friend Francesca's mother who sadly lost her fight with cancer last month and for Kelly's mother who is in the terminal stages. The Lavendar Trust have been incredibly supportive in my journey with Breast Cancer by providing peer support workers and telephone support groups so your donations are directly helping to fund support services for me which would otherwise be hard to find.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and supporting my ongoing journey with breast cancer. I would like to raise awareness for all those young women who may be affected with this disease. Please encourage those around you to check their own breasts and if there is anything unusual, please have this checked out by a health professional. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Lavender Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support and I would love your support on 5th August 2007 (it's a sunday and the race is being held in the Excel centre) Toral
