So ..... Tree-O is 3 men, 12 trees, 1100 miles
The LEJOG (Land's End to John O'Groats) cycle route is a challenge and
Ian Currie, Martin Beeson and Phil Swan are embracing that challenge.
The ‘boys’ met through the Nuffield Health, Wellness & Fitness Centre (the gym!) in Chichester, Martin and Phil both work and train there; the three quickly became firm friends. When Ian told the boys about his plan to undertake his charitable ride; he instantly had very keen company.
The boys are raising money for The Rowans Hospice - in memory of Ian's step-dad Eric, his mother-in-law Jan and all those still dear to them who lost their own battles with cancer.
The group will be cycling South to North via a recognised and practiced route as detailed on the map page on their website which you can follow. They may deviate slightly from these plans depending on any unforeseen detours required along the way! They intend to head off to Penzance on Saturday 28 May and to begin their exciting journey on
Sunday 29 May with a schedule finish on Sunday 12 June in Scotland. Averaging 70-80 miles each day, their chosen route is approximately 1,100 miles.
In an effort to add their own unique stamp on this particular LEJOG venture, at each stop, the trio have decided to plant a tree; hence the aptly named TREE-O. Each tree will have its own brass plaque and stake, and be dedicated to a loved one – trees are obviously limited but can be ‘sponsored’ for a donation of £200; each one purchased will include details of the co-ordinates and a photograph of the allocated tree; a lasting and living memory to a loved one. The trees have been kindly donated by Keydell Nurseries, Waterlooville.
Follow The Boys training blog and then their journey via the website www.treeo.co.uk.
