WHAT'S MY CHALLENGE?
I'm Graeme Quar and I am gearing up to climb the highest mountain in Ethiopia to highlight the inspirational work of a British charity in rural Africa.
I am 55 years old and until recently my walking experiences were from the the car to the office and back. My challenge is to ascend to the summit of volcanic Ras Dejen - 4,550m (14,928ft).
The climb is an eight-day trek across the Simien Mountains to raise funds for Send a Cow which celebrates 25 years of life-transforming work in Africa. The trek starts in October.
WHY?
I have supported Send a Cow for nearly ten years.
Send a Cow has helped one million impoverished families in eight countries to date. Lives have been turned around because the charity shows locals how to improve farming techniques in order to become self sufficient, with surplus food sold to generate income.
I have visited Send a Cow projects in Kenya, Lesotho, Ethiopia and last year I travelled to Rwanda.
All the photographs on this site show the African farmers and families that I have met with their gardens and livestock. They demonstrate the success of Send a Cow.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
I have paid for the entire trip myself - 100% of all donations goes to Send a Cow.
