Trentham to Arusha · 24 September 2007

We're a Christian aid and development agency, following Jesus to the places of greatest need to respond to disasters and help communities unlock their own potential to overcome poverty. We won't stop until poverty stops.

Story

In September 2008 Simon Dufton and Steve Bayley will ride their BMW F650GS motorcycles from Trentham Gardens in Stoke on Trent to the Seeway Trust children’s house in Arusha in Tanzania, a journey of more than 6500 miles, across 18 countries and a wide variety of roads from motorway to unmade dirt track in just 30 days!

Why? - It is impossible to imagine how a mother feels as she holds her new born child for the first time knowing she has given it HIV. Sadly that is happening to 1,600 mothers every single day. That’s a new born baby infected with AIDS every minute of every day! With the right drugs and help this can be stopped. It costs just £7 per dose to stop a mother passing AIDS to her unborn child! Tearfund's Work a Miracle Campaign aims to stop Mother to Child AIDS transmission by raising £60 million by 2015.

In addition we will also be donating money to  Birmingham Children's Hospital in the UK as well as the Seeway Trust childrens houses in Arusha! To help us do this we now have commercial sponsors and supporters who between them are covering the costs of the ride and all its equipment so that every penny pledged and donated by you can be passed directly to the charities we support!
