Newsflash!!!!! Numpty pictured to the left is going to "run" the Marathon! Please visit my fundraising page www.justgiving.com/littleronnie
I've put the page together quite quickly especially for you, yes you! I knew you would be looking at my page right now following the publicity that you have read today (am I right so far? If so read on).
The Marathon is months away and what are the chances of little old me doing it? None you say? Well sponsor me then.... yes now! That way if I don't run you don't pay a penny and if I do then you know you may have just helped save a child's life.
p.s. I don't mind if you sponsor me for the abseil but thats already done and you will have to pay up. I have got a minimum amount to raise for the Marathon so it would help me out if you could sponsor me for that. Im still waiting for Cadburys to ring me, but they will....... especially once I breach their restraining order
...... you are quite right I'm not quite the full ticket... once I agree to do something there is no return!
.
Now a brief interlude whilst you hum/sing the themetune to Rocky..... you may now continue to read the rest of my page where I explain exactly why I am doing this....... it gets a bit serious now.
Let me first start with a personal message. Colin, Jo, Ronnie and Posy you have all done so amazingly well and the strength, unity and courage you have shown is not measurable. I take my hat off to you (so I won't look like a "wrong un" anymore
)
Please now make sure you read everything below and then sponsor me......please, you know you want to
I've done it! and oh what a day! Not only did I do the abseil I proposed at the end of it and Sam said said.........yes!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone who said they would be there turned up, my mum, dad, sister, my fiancee's (ooh that sounds good) mum, dad, brother, sister, basically all the family and then also Colin and Noreen (another friend from work).
I did the abseil in aid of the appeal, that was my sole reason for doing it. The proposal had been on the agenda for sometime and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to let everyone know how much I
Sam. So thats what I did and with a bit of organisation, a costume change, a few secret telephone calls and 3 days stuck to the toilet my perfect day fell into place.
I did the abseil in 3 mins 13 secs (so I am told) so all that work at JJB sports Westwood working my ass...ociated muscles off paid off. There was one scary moment where the wind got me (I don't mean the personal kind!) and I got blown 8ft sideways, people thought I was there to clean the windows!
. I also did a little pose at the top (see photo). Cadburys if you are reading this then please note I am looking for sponsorship for the marathon, I am sure we can work something out that benefits the appeal and your company
We are all still on a high from it and I want to thank Claire and Laura at the Evelina Appeal for letting me do the proposal and helping lower the banner etc. It all went completely to plan, even the wind (the weather kind) didn't interfere with it. It was just fan dabby dozey.
I'm hoping that the publicity that it generates will help raise more funds for the Evelina so please please please help in some way whether it's sponsoring me or doing something yourself for the appeal. I will be creating another page soon in respect of my Marathon Run and will put the details here soon.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please note that I set the target as £500 as i believe this to be achievable, however I can assure you it is not a problem if it goes over
so please do not be put off sponsoring me because you believe I have achieved the target. I haven't!
My friends (Colin and Jo) have a baby called Ronnie. Ronnie was rushed from Margate Hospital to the Evelina Childrens Hospital on Tuesday 15th May. He had major life saving bowel surgery and has had one further bowel operation since as well as 3 other unrelated operations. He is still in the hospital and will be for several more weeks.
Throughout this time he has received brilliant care from all the surgeons and nurses
and his parents have been staying at Ronald McDonald House at Guys Hospital. The hospital facilities are second to none and as I left the hospital I knew I had to do something to help. I had an idea
I went on to the Evelina Website and read the pages ane then on Saturday 28th July I found myself days dangling off the tallest hospital in the World!...........and do you know what......... It was amazing!
I saw Ronnie the day before the abseil and he is so much better than he was. It was truely uplifting to see him looking so well and he gave me a high five, there was no way I would back out after that. He has a new baby sister (who is soooo beautiful and lovely to cuddle) so its all good news at the moment and thats the way it will hopefully be from now on.
For those of you that think I am brave, I am not, I am just stupid
Seriously though I did it through choice, the real bravery is shown by the children and their parents who are in the hospital. They have no choice in being there but show amazing courage and bravery that I do not believe I have and selfishly hope I never have to find out.
Also please tick the box stating that you wish to know about future fundraising events that I may be doing for this charity as I WILL be running the London Marathon in 2008 (there you go it's in writing so I have to do it
)
Please be generous and sponsor me for the 469 ft abseil (29 storeys high above London Bridge) that I did down Guy’s Hospital Tower. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Im sure you will agree this is a very good cause. Please see the bit about the charity on the left.
I felt priviledged to have done this for the Evelina Appeal and no matter how scared I was (I have trouble getting out of the loft as I am scared of heights/falling), it was nothing compared to the emotions that the patients and parents go through who require the services of this amazing hospital.
Please help me give something back to a children’s hospital that daily gives so much to the patients and families of children that are unwell.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Evelina Children's Hospital Appeal will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
