Story

“HELLO AND WELCOME TO OUR JUSTGIVING PAGE!!!!”

RAISING MONEY FOR THE PROSTATE CANCER RESEARCH CENTRE

WE MADE IT TO AMSTERDAM IN 27 HOURS! EPIC! PLEASE DONATE

Having survived our first weeks as freshers at Durham University in the UK, we're taking on an even bigger challenge…

  JAILBREAK!

We've got 36 hours to get as far away from campus as possible, armed only with a passport, mobile phone and our powers of charm and persuasion…

That means NO MONEY, NO PRE-PLANNING WHATSOEVER!

We’ll do whatever it takes to escape the authorities: sweet-talking old ladies, shameless begging, hitching with suspicious-looking tuckers, etc. etc.

Throughout the ordeal we'll be taking a video diary and making Twitter updates on iPhone so you'll be able to track our progress from one hour to the next! We'll put up a post on our facebook group to tell you how we did once we make it back!

Rest assured that we’re not just doing it for bragging rights, but are far more worthy cause: in the name of The Prostate Cancer Research Centre:

The Prostate Cancer Charity is taking increased steps to tackle this dreadful disease, despite being plagued by underfunding, and is the leading charity in the UK focused specifically on prostate cancer. It is the only charity fighting prostate cancer on every front, through research, support, information and campaigning. However, it relies solely upon voluntary donations as it receives no government funding whatsoever: THIS IS WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Facts about prostate cancer

Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in men.  Men aged 50 or over have a 1 in 11 chance of contracting prostate cancer each year more than 30,000 men are diagnosed with the disease and more than 10,000 men die of it.

Prostate cancer grows slowly and is quite resistant to chemotherapy survival rates have not improved as they have for some other cancers

If prostate cancer is contained within the prostate gland it can be cured. Once it spreads to other parts of the body it is difficult to treat.

Prostate cancer is rare in men under 45 but given enough time almost every man will develop this condition

Recent public figures to be effected by the disease include composer Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and media guru Max Clifford.

We need 150 pounds as a minimum contribution to participate, but don’t hesitate to give more à Donating through "Justgiving" is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Prostate Cancer Charity gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

All we ask of you is this - for the sake of all those battling the illness and every person who's life has been impacted by the disease - please sponsor us now!

"Newcastle, London, Paris, Jerusalem, Tokyo.... WHERE ON EARTH WILL WE END UP?!?!"
