Story
On 7th December I'll be doing the Western Australian Ironman in Busselton. This has meant that throughout the year with the support of coaches, friends, will power and energy drinks, I have been training to do a long distance triathlon.
The Ironman is a bit of a mad thing to do and involves a 3.8k swim, a 180k bike and then a 42.4k run (a marathon) as something nice to finish me off with - and yes, just in case you're wondering, they are all one after the other and all on the same day!!!!
So, as I am doing something slightly nutty and is a huge challenge, I thought that I would also like to raise some money for the Eve Appeal in the process.
I wasn't aware of the Eve Appeal until a friend of mine, Barbara Callaghan, was diagnosed in 2007 with ovarian cancer in 2006. Ovarian cancer is usually diagnosed far too late for effective treatment, though the Eve Appeal is set up to research and develop the diagnosis at a treatable stage. Thankfully Barbara, with the use of great will power, determination, friends and a little medical intervention, recovered successfully.
For this reason, I would like to ask you to support me in my challenge, which, by comparison is not as tough as the one Barbara faced.
None of the money sponsored will in anyway go to finance this trip or any of the traiing - my sponsorship is completely separate.
Many thanks in anticipation of your support.
Paul
