Dear All,
Thanks for visiting this page! On Sunday August 10th 2008, at around 7am I will be thrashing around in Victoria Dock trying not to drown, with a mile's worth of swimming to go and then a marathon's worth of cycling, with a 10km run to finish it off. And all in lycra.
As you can see from the picture on the left, I failed the super hero auditions due to severe weediness, but instead I will be racing in the London Triathlon, to raise money for Leukaemia Research. In May 2007 my friend, the artist Michele Angelo Petrone died after a 13-year battle with Hodgkin's disease. You can read about him here. Michele had spent much of those years painting and lecturing, and devising workshops to help people engage creatively with the emotional effects of living with cancer. I would like to support a great charity which does so much to complement Michele's legacy, his books and travelling exhibitions.
So I hope you can sponsor me for this. For the record, I hate running. I don't like swimming, it's too wet. I've spent a lot of my own money over the last six months training for this, and my swim training group is still known as 'the sinkers'. I still look ridiculous in a wetsuit. And all my colleagues have put up with me filling the office with sweaty kit and moaning constantly about how hard and boring it is. So please sponsor me, just so it's been worth it for them. For me, it's a big challenge, and making the most of being fit and able enough to (hopefully) complete the London Triathlon.
Many, many thanks,
Tim
By the way - Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leukaemia Research gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
