My story

It is a little known fact that leukaemia and other blood cancers are the most common cause of non-accidental death amongst 16-30 year olds in the UK

In December 2005, my brother, Tim Reeve, tragically died of acute leukaemia. Together with my mum and dad, I established a charitable trust in his name to help other teenagers and young adults with blood cancers.

Building on the success of my father’s Walk to the World Cup, my friend, Rob Aitken and I have trained hard for over 9 months for our own amazing journey, a Deca Ironman to the Rugby World Cup which started on August 15 and comprised;

        A cross channel (24 mile) swim

        A 1120 mile (112 miles a day for 10 days) cycle ride

        A 262 mile (a marathon a day for 10 days) run

You can read our web dairy and see the photo gallery at www.thetimreevecharitabletrust.org.uk

Unfortunately, bad weather meant that we couldn't attempt the channel swim but we did swim 24 miles in the sea at Dover Harbour spending over 15 hours in the water - it was the hardest physical challenge that either of us had ever experienced. We have also completed the cycle ride with some tough times and some amazing experiences. Finally, the running, which was without doubt the most challenging of all and we both struggled at times but pulled each other through with a little help from our good friends.

So we've reached the end of our journey but not the end for  our cause to help young people with leukaemia. Thank you for your sponsorship and support and please spread the word and let your friends know - maybe they will be inspired to help young people with blood cancers so that, unlike Tim, they have the chance for their dreams to come true.

 Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leukaemia Research Fund will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
