Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
I was born with Asthma, and during my childhood I was in and out of hospital. With a lot of help and support from Asthma I was able to gain control of my asthma and move on to lead a normal life. It was because of this support that I decided to help them out by running the London Marathon in aid of Asthma .
I started my training several months ago and have been working hard to fit this in with both my working life and my studies. It's been really difficult finding both the time and motivation to go for a run or go to the gym when it's freezing outside and there's loads of coursework or revision to do, but it's been worth it so far.
Not only has my training improved my strength and general fitness, but my asthma is under much better control and I feel healthier than I have ever done before. It's a great way to unwind and de-stress when life is just too fast to stop.
Well now that it's all over I guess I should update you on how it all went!
I finished in 4 hours and 13 mins, which I think was very impressive. The weather was unbelievably hot and the air was still. However the crowd was amazing!
After 7 miles, my leg started to hurt and I really thought that it was going to be the end of me, and that I wouldn't be able to complete it, but I managed to keep on going. In my head I really had imagined that I was only waiting for something to happen so that I had an excuse to end it all, but you know what? It never happened! I had no reason to stop, so I couldn't.
At 18 miles, I ran out of energy, and I started to walk, but then a guy who was behind me ran up and tapped me on the back within about 3 steps of me slowing and said "come on mate" - so I started running again. With a little more motivation, I was running until 20 miles, when i had to stop. I walked for a bit making sure that I didn't stop completely. Then about 2 mins later I was running again. I did this again at 23 miles, but then spent all my energy speeding up for the last few miles. I even managed a sprint finish!
So - how do I feel? Well I have run a marathon, and survived! I am now trying to recover as quickly as possible so that I can get back out on the roads so that I can do another one. I am a little ill at the moment, but it's only a small cold and I should be fine.
Exam revision is taking up most of my time, but thats all good, it'll all be over b the end of May.
Details of my times are available on the Flora London Marathon website at
