The Rab Mountain Marathon 2009 · 26 September 2009

We empower lives through adaptable and inclusive support, championing individual needs, enabling autonomy within a responsive and nurturing environment and ensuring no family member is left behind. Inclusivity is not just a value but a guiding principle.

Story

The event......

My name is Adam and I was asked at the weekend if I would like to participate in 'The Rab mountain marathon 2009' which takes place on the 26th and 27th September. This is a classic mountain marathon/navigational challenge in the mountains (up north somewhere!!). It is set up on a score basis with a time limit therefore event strategy and navigational skill is the key to success. I will have to be self sufficient for the two days!!

On day one, I will be spending 7 hours running in the mountains to reach each checkpoint. Day two will be a 6 hour run where I will aim to get to the finish line with a decent score and in a decent position! This is going to be a gruelling and challenging couple of days but if I can raise some money for the BDCPS I will give it my all!I

I have four weeks to get fit and ready for this challenge...those of you who know me you will probably laugh at the fact that I am attempting this!

Please, please, please sponsor me!!

Count down is on only 2 days to go untill the event i would like to say im well prepared, but that would be lying!!!

The charity......

Bedford and District Cerebral Palsy Society (BDCPS) is a local charity that provide support to children and families of the children, who have varying individual needs.

The BDCPS run monthly clubs for the children, these include: Out and about, Stampede and Gills water thrills. They also provide activities for the children during the school holidays. Their services are a great help to families and are fun and enjoyable for the children.

My first experience of some of the fantastic work the staff do for the children was when I came to the University of Bedfordshire theatre to see them put on a production after just a few days to learn and rehearse. This has inspired me to raise money for the charity!

Please help the BDCPS continue to provide these fantastic services to the young people by sponsoring me as much as you are able to give.
