Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh,

From amongst the signs of an accepted Ramadan, is that one is given the ability to continue doing good actions after the blessed month. During Ramadan, some brothers at Fujitsu Plc in Pudsey got together and donated towards 2 wells in Bangladesh through MercyMankind.org. These wells have now been dug and are fully functional. The pictures can be seen by clicking on Photos on the left hand side.

Drinking or preparing food with unclean surface water can lead to some diarrheal diseases and cholera and typhoid. According to the World Health Organisation, diarreal disease is responsible for 1.8 million deaths a year worldwide (mostly in developing countries). It is mostly due to to unsafe water supply, sanitation and hygiene, and is mostly concentrated in children in developing countries.

Installing tube wells has helped reduce the incidence of water borne diseases as it sources groundwater which has been naturally filtered. However, some people still have difficulty getting access to these wells.

We are now initiating a project to create 20 tube-wells for our brothers and sisters in Bangladesh (in an area where refugees and poor people live). Each well costs £55. Both Zakat and Sadaqah (Lillah) may be used, and you may donate on behalf of family or the deceased as a means of Sadaqah-e-Jaariyah.

donate either by clicking Donate Now or giving cash to me personally. Please Gift Aid your donation if you are a UK Tax payer

Should you wish to have a personal message written on the plaque which is placed next to the well, please leave a message on the justGiving.com website when you donate, or alternatively email me on z.ayyub@gmail.com

Taqabbalallahu minna wa minkum, May Allah accept these weak efforts of ours and keep us sincere in our intentions.

"The parable of those who spend their property in the way of Allāh is as the parable of a grain growing seven ears with a hundred grains in every ear, and Allāh multiplies for whom He pleases, and Allāh is Ample-giving, Knowing" - The Holy Quran, 2:261

Saad Ibn Ubadah, asked, "Apostle of Allah, what form of Sadaqah is the best?" He replied, "Water." (Abu Dawood)

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) has said: 'Sadaqah (charity) does not decrease wealth.' (Muslim)
