My story

Hi, I'm Mike (on the left!) and on the right is my good friend Graham.

I have recently had a very big operation for cancer and I wanted to say a big thank you to all the wonderful people who looked after me at the Norwich University Hospital by trying to raise a few pounds.

So, we are taking off around the whole of the British mainland, leaving on Saturday June 20th. We aim to be back home in Norfolk in around two to two and a half weeks.

I would love it if you would sponsor us, please. Let me explain!

We are starting from Shipdham in Norfolk and heading south to Brighton, where we will collect a stick of rock, then off down to Lands End. From there it will be north, up the west side of the country, through Wales, via Blackpool to collect another stick of rock, then on through the Lake District to our halfway halt at Lunga.

From Lunga we are heading north around Skye, to Cape Wrath then across to John O'Groats. If it works out we may do a quick excursion up to the Orkneys and Shetlands islands, although there won't be much mileage on this section; it's mostly afloat!

From John O'Groats it is down the east coast of the black isle to Inverness, then down through Braemar to St Andrews. From St Andrews on south past Lindisfarne, via Whitby to Skegness for our third stick of rock before running back into Norfolk from the north.

And the sponsorship? Any amount is hugely appreciated.  You can also take part in our 'guess the mileage' competition.  Try and guess how many miles we will do and sponsor your guess by a penny a mile with a chance to win a great prize(see below) So, if you think we will do 3,000 miles, please pledge £30.00.  Every contribution will be entered automatically.

When we get back we will see who came closest and if it is you, you will get a free meal for four at the sensational Hunny Bell restaurant in Hunworth near Holt. This gift has very kindly been donated by my good friend, Henry Watt. Many, many thanks, Henry.

We'll even present you with the three sticks of rock...

So, please make your guess and pledge some cash for the outstanding work that the Big C does to support research into this scary disease! And please remember, you can enter as many times as you like!

Good luck! And thanks!
