Story

Update 24/8/2010,
Another member and a few of his workmates are having a sponsored beard shave, possibly with a comical outcome, another thank you to all the participants.

A few weeks back one of our club members auctioned one of his motorbikes donating  25% of the final sale price to this cause, many thanks to that M40Man for the hugely magnanimous donation.

Update 03/6/2010,

Many Members of  The Yamaha Diversion Club spent the late May bank holiday weekend up in Moffat, Dumfries & Galloway Scotland, over the course of the weekend a few events were held, One of our members volenteered himself to have half his head and beard shaved off, this occurred saturday lunchtime, saturday evening was the main event and items donated by club members were auctioned off. And then there was a small suprise for a particular member of the club, with so many people watching he couldn't really refuse to dress up in an Hawaiian Hula Girls outfit and pose for a few humiliating pictures.

A really huge hand of appriciation to everyone that made the weekend happen, and an even bigger thanks to everyone for been so generous towards this cause.

The Yamaha Diversion Club is an internet based motorcycle club. Our membership is primarily in the UK but we have regular contributors in Europe, America and Australia. Each year we pick a cause to collect money for. For 2010 we have chosen The Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance trust. They provide a life saving service for the three counties of Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. At the start of this year we personally learnt the value of this service as a friend had an accident & they came to his rescue.

Air ambulance charities collectively undertake 19,000 missions annually and, whilst we appreciate the services of all the UKs air ambulance units, we are specifically trying to help the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust on this occasion. Around half the call outs are to road traffic accidents. That's a lot of help to a lot of people & we could all have to rely on them - we never know when. On average, each mission costs £1,229. The Trust is a charity which receives no funding from the government, NHS or National Lottery & it costs around £2 million pounds a year to maintain the service. In an effort to thank them & to permit it to continue it's good work we want to raise as much money as possible.

Throughout 2010 we are going to undertake a number of fundraising events including collections at each of our group get togethers. These have included collections, auctions, head shaves and sales of Club T-shirts and keyrings. Other events are to be announced.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Please help us to keep this vital service going.

Thank you
