Alhaurin El Grande Southern Spain to Timbuktu Mali Departure 9th October 2010 (on 2 Quads)

Lillian Skinner & Joan Porrett Family lost to cancer (2 Reasons)

Two mature ladies, both having lost a mother and grandmother to cancer. Our intertion is to travel on quad bikes from Alhaurin El Grande Spain to Timbuktu Mali Africa, on our own !!  We will be putting our patience, stamina and friendship to the test on what could be described  as a grueling and perhaps hazardous journey, across deserts and minefields, never before attempted on quad bikes or by females and with no back up! To raise money for the macmillan nurses as our priority charity but also for the Hospice for cancer patients in Benalmadena, southern Spain. Departing 9th October 2010.

Neither of us are under any illussions as to the challanges that we will be facing together in what will be fairly extreme conditions.

We are doing this journey in loving memory of LILLIAN SKINNER &JOAN PORRETT  Much loved and missed Grandmother and mother.

Anyone who has had anything to do with the macmillan nurses would all agree that they are BRILLIANT !!

They befriend cancer patients in the final stages of there lives, offering support, help, friendship and assistance to them and there family at a very difficult time. There support is offered  both leading up to, during and after death.

Whist we are able to ride quads tousands of miles, neiher of us could do what these nurses do, making a huge differance to so many lives.

We know all our friends are kind and charitable people but if you are in any doubt, please bear in mind that not only will we be facing rediculously high tempratures, exstreme discomfort and flying camel poo we will be crossing minefields, sleeping under canvas without any available washing / toilet facilities, that for the stories alone, should persuade you to donate genourously, for what we are about to endure.
