Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

As you may already know, Two Coots and Two Beauts is a team of family and friends who are taking on an epic challenge for the benefit of Oxfam!

Over the weekend of 4th and 5th June we will be walking 100km (62+ miles) over 30 hours in the Yorkshire Dales.  Yes, that's trekking day and night - whatever the weather!

The challenge was originally started in the South Downs by the Queens Gurkha Signals Regiment over 30 years ago as an exercise to test soldiers’ stamina and teamwork skills.  We will be taking on the same task but in the Yorkshire Dales as it is much closer to home - although it seems much hillier!

Rather than taking on a task that we knew we could do without much effort, we decided to take on something that each one of us will have to work hard for and which will be a huge challenge both mentally and physically!  Certainly worthy of sponsorship!

The team consists of:

Gemma Langlands (Beaut) : The person who thought that this challenge would be a good idea and convinced the rest of us to give it a go.

Louise Warren (Beaut) : A married mother of three who wants a challenge now her youngest child has started nursery.

Rob Pitt (Coot) : The oldest member of the team who is hoping that many years spent yomping in the army will pull him through.

Ross Airey (Coot) : Gemma's elder brother who is hoping that a bit of fitness and blind determination will pull him through.

We are passionate about the cause and have paid our registration fee ourselves so that all sponsorship goes to the charity.  If you have not yet donated, please help us all you can. If you are only able to give £1 or £2 that's more than we had and we are grateful for all donations no matter how small.

Please do give a little - every pound is as valuable as the last to the charity.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Alternatively we each have sponsorship forms so, if you would prefer to sponsor us that way, do get in touch.

So please dig deep and donate now.
