Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Pablocheesecake (I can't be sure, but I don't think that's what's on his birth certificate) and I are doing 20,000 sit-ups in 2011. The original purpose was to set ourselves a personal challenge, but it's also a great opportunity to raise awareness and cash for a worthwhile charity.
Stroke is a huge, but understated, issue in the western world. It's the the third biggest cause of death in England and Wales behind heart disease and cancer. Around 150,000 people have a stroke every year, and the effects vary greatly. Some people will completely recover from stroke. Some will be disabled, either physically or mentally. Some will die.
If you live to the age of 70, as a lot of us will these days, you can expect to have a stroke at some point. Even if you don't make it that far, a considerable number of younger people will still have strokes.
The Stroke Association funds research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation. They also (partly) funded Susie's PhD.
Any donations will be very gratefully received. You can keep track of my efforts on my blog. Mr Cheesecake can be found over here.
Thanks.
