In June 2001 Nick Baker was diagnosed as having lung cancer – quite a surprise for a non-smoker. After setting up The AquaLung Trust and raising over £500,000 he died on 17th May 2008.
Nick was an extraordinary man and our aim is to continue the good work of his Trust so......
On April 11th 2009 Expedition ‘Two Feet On The Table’ will set out from Ice Station Barneo in a quest to reach the Geographic North Pole by foot. We will be contending with temperatures of -30 / -40, broken ice pressure ridges as high as houses, skiing whilst hauling our equipment in sledges and daily ice-drift which can often see a whole days northward gain wiped out while we sleep. Nice!
Why 'Two feet on the table'? In days gone by, those who had rounded Cape Horn were entitled to put one foot on the table after dinner and those who had crossed the Arctic Circle were entitled to put both feet up!
The Horn is NEXT!!!!!
