I HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO CLIMB THE HIGHEST FREESTANDING MOUNTAIN IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!

I need you to dig as deep as possible to donate as much as you can to help.

Those of you that know me know im in no way a sporty person so climbing a mountain wont be easy! I have set a personal target to raise 3k towards this years climb but am hoping i can do much better!

The climb will take me ten days climbing between 4-7 hours per day the last push to the top climbing 16 hours into and through the night! Which is quite a bit longer than the stroll down the local for a quick Guinness! Looks like ill have to do it more regularly…… as part of the training...... obviously!

The overall journey is approx 60 kilometers (37.3 miles)

The money donated will improve the education given to disadvantaged children in the UK, Tanzania, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Other climbs have provided the funds for the Paddington Academy, which opened in September 2006 & last years climb helped raise alongside other charitys a total of $450,000 which payed for the Amani Children's Home which is a small non-governmental, not-profit organization that runs a home for orphans and street-children on the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, East Africa.

Amani Children's Home provides care and a shelter to 147 children who have turned to them for hope. You can help make it possible for them to reach out to more homeless children in a sustainable way and give them a future. Due to one of the world's poorest economies and HIV/AIDS, the problem of street-children in Tanzania is growing daily.

You can help transforming the life of an innocent child! See for yourself by clicking the links below see the photos of the little ones you are helping!

 The Facts Of The Climb:

Kilimanjaro the 'Roof of Africa', is the tallest mountain in Africa and the world’s highest free-standing mountain at 19,340 feet. (5,895m)

Less people climb this mountain every year than run the marathon but between   1-15 people a year die climbing! (i have googled it and it seems true)

Oxygen levels can drop by 50% at the summit Lack of air pressure causes tiredness and breathing difficulties. Reduced amounts of oxygen in the blood starve the brain, causing headaches, nausea and - in extreme circumstances - death.

As the altitude gets extreme during the climb most people who climb Kilimanjaro often suffer from altitude sickness which causes violent vomiting.

The terrain changes as you get higher from rainforest to heath, moorland, alpine desert and glaciers reaching temperatures in excess of –10 degrees at the summit! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The money raised goes directly to ESC (The Entertainment Software Charity) which  was founded in 2000 The ESC is the charitable arm of the UK computer games industry. They use our funds and time to improve the education given to disadvantaged children in the UK, Tanzania, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

In 2005 the ESC donated a total of £507,000 to educational and medical causes specifically for young people.

''In order to deliver real benefits directly to those who need it most. We work with charities which bring hope to disadvantaged young people by providing educational and medical support. Importantly, these charities are skilled at knowing how to get the right help to the right people effectively and efficiently.''
