Having been tricked into seeing some of the most stunning scenery in the world through filling in an application form for a 13 mile race I now think that someone should benefit from this ridiculous enterprise! I am working at a mission hospital called CURE International in Malawi for 6 months and would like to raise some money for them to stave off the effects of the global recession. They have had to reduce the number of free paediatric operations they perform because donations from the west have taken a nosedive.
So, please please sponsor my running-with-lions half marathon in Zimbabwe at the end of August. There are a few of us CURE staff driving down from Blantyre for a 5 day round trip. All of the money raised will go to CURE Malawi and none will be spent on go-faster-running-shoes or fancy hotels or the like.

So, this is the post script! We got to Vic Falls using a variety of transport after our land cruiser broke down (repeatedly) on the first leg! As it was, that was a good thing as it meant we could sleep on buses and not have to fall out over reading maps!
The race was, I can honestly say, fun! We were interviewed by Zimbabwe national TV for being the only team from Malawi and for one of our boys being the first non-Zimbabwean home!
