Thank you so much for visiting our fundraising page.
A few months ago we planned to climb Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain and the world's highest free standing mountain (it's only 19'340 feet high) to raise money for the Amani Children's Home in Moshi, Tanzania. We are happy to tell you all that on Thursday 13th August we made it to Uhuru Peak, Kilimanjaro's summit!! There is no denying that it was a tough challenge and that we were relieved to make it to the top! The first few days of walking were really enjoyable. We got to know the rest of our group and our support team (without whom we wouldn't have survived!) and enjoyed seeing the changing scenery. The night summit walk was long and hard going, but we made it! We watched the sun rise on top of the roof of Africa and were amazed at the sight of the glaciers! We were also pretty amazed on the way down to see where we had walked the night before and were relieved that we hadn't seen the path in daylight!! It was an amazing experience and we are both really glad that we did it - we will never forget it. Thank you all so much for your support.
Amani
We had a brilliant time volunteering at Amani for two weeks before we climbed Kilimanjaro. It was a fantastic experience working with the children and staff at the home. We saw first hand how the home supports children who need a safe place to live, food and shelter. The home also provides hundreds of children with access to education, both at the home and within the local community. We saw how keen the children are to learn, they reallly appreciate the opportunity to learn and value education. Observing some of the classes at the home was a privilege; the children are so motivated. Amani is an extremely happy place. There is a huge sense of community which it was wonderful to be part of, even for a short time. It struck us both how happy the children are and how the home enables them all just to be children, which is so important.

Donations
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Friends of Amani (UK) formerly Guerba for Good gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Here is an idea of what your money could buy at Amani;
£6 = School uniform for one child.
£12 = Sheets and blankets for two children at Amani.
£25 = Provides medical care for an average of 35 children living on the streets.
£50 = Three healthy meals for all the children at Amani for one day.
£100 = Fees for the first semester at Secondary School.
Please be assured that all the money you donate will go straight to the 'Amani Children's Home' to provide education and care for the children they support. None of the money we have raised will be used to fund our trip.
Many Thanks
Vicki and Rebecca
