Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I have decided to undertake the same walk I did last year with kim, to raise money for St Barnabas House.
On the 19th June 2010 i will be joining another 1200 women on a half marathon walk around west sussex. Not only will we be walking over 13 miles, we will be starting at midnight.
The money raised from this event goes to Worthing's Local Hospice Centre St Barnabas House. To give you an idea of the running costs of this local service, please read the below.
£7,500 pays for one day of all care services at St Barnabas.
£425 pays for a patient to stay at the In-patient Unit for 24 hours.
£200 pays for a ‘Time to Remember’ group, providing therapeutic support for bereaved families.
£130 pays for a patient to attend the Day Hospice for one day.
£40 pays for a session with a member of the Family Services team.
£30 pays for a patient to enjoy a bath in one of our fully assisted bathrooms.
£25 will pay for one hour of physiotherapy for a patient.
£10 will pay for a patient’s meal, specially tailored to their dietary needs.
£7 will pay for the newspapers to be delivered to our Day Hospice for one week.
To keep this sevice running costs about £4 million pounds. Patients are not charged for services and only a 3rd of these costs are covered by the government.
They rely on the generosity of both inderviduals and organisations
to take part in events such of these to keep their doors open.
