Our personal message:

Neil and I are running two half marathons in two weeks. The first being Kenilworth on 7th followed by Coventry on 22nd. We are both quite new to running having started in March but are determined to complete our challenge for such a worthy cause.

We both work for RBS who has agreed to match donations up to £1000.

A brief description of the aims of the campaign are below and I am sure you will agree it is a fantastic opportunity to save some pristine rainforest and stop it disappearing forever.

Sumatra's lowland rainforest is of global importance to wildlife. More than 6000 species of bird make the Sumatran rainforest their home as well as the Sumatran tiger, the agile gibbon, Asian elephant and Malaysian tapir. These are all suffering the devastating effects of deforestation. Without urgent action the rainforest and the many species that live in it will disappear. The RSPB and Burung Indonesia, part of the BirdLife International partnership have launched an exciting initiative to restore an area of Sumatra's lowland rainforest, approximately the size of the West Midlands conurbation. Together they have bought the logging rights to the area now known as Harapan Forest (after the Indonesian word for hope).
