Story
Today (10/10/17) is world homelessness day and world mental health day, I wanted to do something positive to mark this day so I've signed up to sleep uncomfortably outside in Bristol City centre. I'm a bit scared of this challenge after my recent mental health challenges, insomnia and ongoing physical disabilities...but compared to the challenges of people experiencing homelessness my difficulties pale into insignificance.
Thank you for considering donating. This week I have talked to many people who are homeless in Bristol. Their stories are so hard to hear and I'm always amazed at their resilience, but how can that be maintained day after day with society kicking them in the teeth at almost every turn (sometimes literally)? Let's do something to help these people and make Britain a better place. 1625 independent people are fantastic at getting young people a place to call home and help them to stay off the streets. When working in mental health services for young people, I have personally seen their achievements in helping 17 year olds who are being forced to leave their foster homes to find a home of their own so as they do not become homeless.
If you decide not to donate. I challenge you to sign up to the Big Sleep Out yourself, or why not do both? For all my friends and family in Cornwall, there's an event taking place at the Eden Project, don't miss this chance to help.
