Hi Guys, Im doing a charity event please help read this then sponsor me just a bit if needs be thanks Vikki x
How many of you own or have owned a dog? How many of you have had family dogs that were your best friends ? Who likes animals and hates cruelty? Who would like to help stop cruelty to dogs by doing very little? Who would like to help a friend support something she believes in?
If you answered yes to any of the above please keep reading:
I need your help! I need to raise a lot of money for my sponsored trip to sleigh around 150km round the arctic in aid for the dogs trust www.dogstrust.co.uk , My trip is in march 2010 so haven't got long, The reason why i have chosen to do this is to help the dogs trust. The dogs trust is a brillient charity that helps rescue dogs like the ones pictured above sorry they are awful pics but is a more regular occurence then people want to realise please look at pics and video,
Dogs Trust then treat, care and rehome the dogs and they never put a healthy dog down they also work on combating and making people more aware of things like puppy farms, dog fighting and any other cruelty, Any dogs which have not recovered enough to be rehomed they will keep and look after for life, they also then have sponsor a dog, which is where some of these dogs that can not be rehomed can be sponsored by you and me to help look after them!
I sponsored chad who is a cheeky go lucky chap that is closeish to where i live so i can visit him as well as recieve bits and pieces off him in the post and as you can see in pics above he is beautiful. Dogs Trust is such a amazing charity that helps so many dogs it really deserves as much help as we can give!
I know its christmas soon and everyone is skint but christmas is one of Dogs Trusts busiest times where people buy dogs and then abandon them in all sorts of conditions just watch the video (if you can made me cry my appologies if it does the same), if you like me think we need to help stop this and help these poor creatures, Then guys please sponsor me as much as you can even if we only help one more dog for life thats well worth it!
Right so what am i doing to try and get you lot to part with your beloved cash? Well as stated above i am doing the Arctic Challenge 2010
Extreme cold, harsh unforgiving weather and deep snow? A true wilderness experience surrounded by a frozen landscape hundreds of miles north of the Arctic Circle with only the sound of the panting of the Alaskan huskies and crunching of the snow under the sled’s runners for company. I will be a member of a 10-strong team and will be given training in dog sledding.
The tranquillity and absolute silence of the Arctic is awesome. I may also have to deal with meeting a moose with her calf, an Arctic fox or even a wolf. I will sled through reindeer country, taking extra care to prevent the dogs chasing after these amazing, hardy creatures. Which will be no mean feat!!!! I will be instructed on how to handle my team of dogs and how to negotiate a sled through some of the most exceptional terrain in the world at up to -30 degrees (brirr). Much of Sweden’s scenery is swathed in forest, and wide open plains of white sweeping plains of snow and there are thousands of lakes, notably large stretches of water between Gothenburg and the capital, Stockholm. My trip will start from the area surrounding Kiruna, the northern most town in Sweden and continue in a northeast direction. This area is also home to Sweden’s highest Peak and several National Parks, I only have around 3 1/2 months to get fit for this challenge as it will not be quite as easy as standing on a sleigh (which isn't as easy as it sounds)! When the dogs hit difficult terrain i will need to hop of and run next to them to help lighten the load and encourage them to keep going! If any one has tried to run in deep snow especially up steep hills you will know i will have my work cut out! so gym here i come :), I am also fully responsible for looking after my dogs inc feeding, watering, checking paws for cuts treating them if needs be and harnessing them ready for sledging, I will have to work in a small team where i will have to cook (god help them) light my own fires (yeah rite i may freeze then) and even drill holes in frozen lakes to get my own water! (proberbly end up drowning or dieing of dehyration great!) so all in all the most challenging thing i have ever done! So guys again please please dig deep help me to help them, If you can get your friends, family and anyone else you can to also help sponsor me for this unique challenging event! That will help lots of dogs, I need all the help i can get, Dogs like you have seen pictured above will appreciate it and trust me you will feel amazing knowing you have potencially saved dogs from the terrible abuse as seen above! Thanks so much chaps, Hugs, kisses and licks to all those supporting me! Oh justgiving is a easy and safe way of donating and will never pass on or store your details! so go on donate to your hearts content!
