You are my friend and so you are undoubtedly an amazingly charismatic person who i have kept in touch with because of your good heart.
What i'm up to:
Sunday 6th September 9am(ish) I'll be running the 10k in Glasgow's Great Scottish Run.
If my knees hold out, it'd be great to see some of you at the Glasgow Green finish line at about 9.20am (just kidding... more like 11.30am).
Why:
Most of us are blessed with fantastic lives, unbelievable oppotunities and mostly good health.
Unfortunately we sometimes take all this for granted and when we meet people who some would say ar less fortunate, we get an uncomfortable reminder of how easily 'that could have been me'.
Your good heart often makes you want to help but life gets in the way of commiting to such a responsibility.
As many of you know, Epilepsy is a condition that is close to my heart (or my head to be more precise) but when i see those seriously affected by the condition the 'that could so easily still be me' feeling makes me thankful for the life i have and what i can do with it.
Epilepsy Scotland is a charity that works tirelessly to improve the opportunities and care for those whose lives are seriously affected by this condition. It is a scary experience for the sufferer and often moreso for their family. The support and advice this organization gives can often be a real life line in emotional times.
What do i want:
I rarely ask of anything from my friends, but in this instance i would ask you to remember that moment when you wished you could have helped in some small way to redress to balance.
Epilepsy Scotland would benefit greatly from any donations, and the lives they help will definitely be better off.
