In order to settle the perennial argument the War of the Roses Charity boxing event has been established. The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment and Yorkshire Regiment will fight to see who is the toughest of the Northern Warriors. This event will be a spectacle for all, with to the finest of British Army boxing. All the monies raised from the event will go to “Help for Heroes” and our Regimental Associations, which support the lives of serving and injured soldiers. This is pertinent with the current operations, where one Battalion from each of the Regiments’ is about to be deployed to .

The evening will take place on Thursday 12 Nov 09 with a VIP reception in the , , with dinner and boxing in the adjacent Saviles Hall. Following a drinks reception a bugler will call guests through to enjoy a three course meal with wine listening to both a Military Band quintet and an arousing display by a Corps of Drums. The two Regiments’ finest fighters will then go head-to-head for nine bouts. The sponsor of each bout will present the winner their prize while having with their photo taken by a professional photographer. After the boxing guests will have a chance of bidding for some fantastic lots in the charity auction.
