We would like to start by saying a BIG THANK YOU!
Since the beginning of 2009 Wayne Blything and I have been raising money for the charity Kick4Life. We hope to attend the charity project which takes place in Lesotho, Africa in September 2010. The 2 week tour will involve helping children who have been orphaned by aids, help get rid of the stigma that surrounds it and encourage children to get tested. We will be delivering HIV education games and activities to local schools, promote messages about HIV prevention and healthy living as well as visiting orphanages and helping out in community projects. Wayne will be specifically concentrating on playing football matches against local teams in front of hundreds of supporters, where I (Tessa) will be concentrating on getting the message across to the supporters.
We have been taking part in many different challenging events throughout England in hope that we can raise the £5,000 needed to take part in the Kick4Life Football tour 2010.
Our first event was the Bristol 10k run held in Frenchay, April 2009, followed by Tough Guy challenge, July 2009 (we comlpleted this challenge in 3hrs 56mins, tough but lots of fun). You may have seen this challenge on itv4 as being one of the toughest challenges known! We have also completed the Great South Run, in Portsmouth where Wayne had calf problems before he started but managed the 10 mile race in 1hr26mins and I did it in 1hr50mins.
We had a BBQ in our garden and sold our belongings in the summer '09.
A mufty day was held at Tessa's school, all kids contributed some money to the charity and were allowed to wear football kits for the day whilst football skills and techniques were practised throughout the day! A fun day for all!
We have some other events lined up already.... We will keep you posted! We are prepared to go to hell and back over the last few months so that we can help the unfortunate children/families in Lesotho.
