Update Mon 18 May 2009
Despite it raining Wed / Thurs / Fri / some of Sat and mostly Sunday....We did it !!
The cloud lifted a little on Friday...when we actually saw the Severn Estuary and the Bridge....but as soon as we dried out a little...the rain returned.
There were a couple of 'why are we putting ourselves thro this?' moments...but thankfully 'we' walked thro those...and marched onto Bath...like a pair of very wet Roman soldiers...or not !
There were some strange happenings en- route which I am sure RW will enlarge on at a later stage...but the important thing is we set our target at £1k...& we are nearly there...(we are only £50 short of that at the time of writing) and that is a fantastic result by this 'team effort'....the sponsorship on paper is roughly around the same amount.....so with the Gift aid attached we will have raised around £2,500.
May we take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for your continued support and generosity.
Stuart and Rob (I'm the one with the not so wet trousers !)
Ps. There is photographic evidence of SK wearing a SS Derby shirt....available for a small additional donation...so Derby Keith...stick that other tenner on and lets get close to hitting that £1k total !!
You can rest assured that at some time, past, present or future…Cancer will affect you, your family, friends or colleagues.
Research into the causes and treatments for Cancer are costly….caring for the sufferers and their families is necessary.
In 2001, when Phil Whittaker, a friend & colleague only had a few weeks to live, he asked that ‘we’ raise some funds forCancer Research UK & Macmillan Cancer Support in his memory.
So far, ‘we’ have raised £35,000 and our aim is to raise an additional £15,000 this year, to reach the massive total of £50,000!
Rob Wells and Stuart Kinton have already walked several hundred miles for charity, including Nottingham to Cardiff (162)for the West Ham v Liverpool FA CUP Final in 2006 & Hadrian’s Wall - Coast to Coast (85) in 2007.
Their intention for 2009 is to walk The Cotswold Way, approximately 105 miles over 5 days / 4 nights. Starting out in Chipping Camden on Wednesday 13 May, they hope to arrive in Bath by Sunday 17 May 2009.
Wellsy, (a West Ham United season ticket holder for many years) was sponsored an extra £100 to wear a Forest shirt for the Coast to Coast walk….so any other similar challenges will be considered….…..as long as the price is right!
We thank you for your donations and your continued support…the ‘we’ is a team effort and many others have contributed towards the funds so far raised.
So PLEASE, PLEASE…….DIG DEEP….AND PLEDGE YOUR
WEDGE FOR THE DYNAMIC DUO
and if the target and beyond is reached then Kinto
will even walk for the five days with a smile on his face !!
……
now that really has to be worth an extra tenner at least !
