Staff from Chigwell Squadron, Air Cadets have triumphed in a gruelling mountain challenge, raising over £2,000 for their unit.
Five staff and friends of the squadron, ably backed by a four-strong safety and support team completed the famous ‘Welsh 3000ers Challenge’ recently on the 28th June. The exceptionally demanding event involves climbing all 15 Welsh peaks over the height of 3000feet in 24 hours. Amazingly, the team completed the course in 14 hours and 4 minutes – taking nearly 10 hours off the challenge time!
After a freezing cold and wet night sleeping on the summit of Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales, the challenge commenced at 5AM. Over the course of the day, the team covered 27 miles and climbed 3,300 meters, equivalent to a third of the height of Mount Everest.
It's not too late to sponsor us, so please help us by donating asas little as £2. Many thanks.
