We are a 24 hour search & rescue service to save lives at sea

Story

Weymouth Lifeboat Station is one of the busiest Lifeboat stations on the coast, undertaking around 100 ‘call outs’ a year and 150 'training exercises' split equally between ‘Ernest and Mabel’ (Severn class Lifeboat) and Jack & Phyl Cleare (Atlantic 85) covering 1330 square nautical miles.

Like every Lifeboat Station in the UK and Ireland we are run and funded by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, an organisation funded entirely through voluntary contributions. However this page is focussed on fundraising efforts specifically for Weymouth Lifeboat.

Weymouth lifeboats are ready 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to go to the aid of those who find themselves in danger at sea. The lifeboats work closely with Solent coastguard,  their helicopter and several Local Coastguard teams.
Since the lifeboat station opened in 1869 Weymouth lifeboats have launched some 1700 times and have saved over 800 lives.

RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.
