Teach Africa provides secondary education for kids living in the worst slums of Nairobi. Half of the 13 year old's that leave primary education and go back into the slum will not see their 25th birthday - we take them out of harms way and invest in their secondary education - creating role models.

UPDATE!! http://whenpathscross.blogspot.com/2010/10/update-from-india.html

Hello!  Thank you for wanting to help buy an autorickshaw.  Teach Africa have very kindly taken me under their wing so that I can collect money officially and receive gift aid. All the money donated here will go towards the rickshaw but please take time to have a look at what Teach Africa do too. This would have been much harder without their support.

For more  information as to what I'm doing please click http://web.me.com/kezbanb/whenpathscross/Home.html to see my website, but in brief:

In 2000 I became friends with a kid in Delhi named Champu.  He has always earnt his living working on the streets, but with the “clean up” campaign for the Commonwealth Games his livelihood is at stake.  He is trying to save up to buy an auto rickshaw with which he would have a secure job for life. It will take him years to do that, especially as at the moment it is almost impossible for him to even earn the money he needs to get through each day as street vendors are being arrested and imprisoned until the games are over. Our paths crossing back then provided me with a priceless experience of India and an incredible insight into humanity. I want that crossing of paths to be of practical help to him too. I want to help him buy his rickshaw.................
I realised I had to do something big to inspire people to donate enough money so I am going to attempt the GB Trans Britain  2010  which, seeing as my current jogs are of about 4 miles in length three times a week, seems a big enough challenge!!

My aim is to raise £6200 which is enough to get him on the road with a new auto rickshaw - hope you can help either by donating here or by organising an event yourself. Many thanks. Caroline
