Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

The 2008 Flora London Marathon took place on the 13th April.  Both of us turned up to the start line suitably attired in our fairy outfits!! as we said we would. Starting off together it became apparent quite soon that Cyril's game plan for the day was very different to Paul's.  Cyril was about taking photos and hanging out with the spectators while Paul was about running a marathon. Paul sounded like a farmer herding a wayward sheep as he tried in vain to caqole Cyril to walk, run, in fact do anything other that take photos and take in the the crowds. So after hanging out together for the first mile or so we parted company and ran our seperate marathon.  Paul completed his first marathon in 3 hours 55 minutes and 7 seconds; which was an amazing result (he will do a lot better next year .. hint hint nudge nudge ... sign up for next year ). Cyril's more leisurely apporach to the race resulted in a finishtime of just under 6 hours in 5 hours 45 mins and 53 seconds. His official time was 5 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds. Unfortunately they no longer publish official times so his efforts (waited just before the finish line for a few minutes watching the clock tick twords the 6 hour mark) to get a rather unique finishing time went un noticed.  Cyril took loads of photos and videos which will be up loaded onto a photo sharing website in due course.  A report of our efforts will also be issued with a full explaination of how Cyril managed to come home in a time that was almost 1 hour slower than his last marathon just six months previous. The excuses should make for entertaining reading of the kind that only a seasoned politican could come up with.

Enough about us and something about our choosen charity:

Our choosen charity is the White Lodge Centre in Chertsey, Surrey.  Why you might ask? The answer is simple - Hannah Mohan.  Hannah is a little angel (thus the colour of the web page) who, despite having a long list of physical challanges, she has a will to live that is inspiring to all who know and come in contact with her.  She is fortunate to be able to attend the White Lodge Centre where she recieves the specialist care and attention she needs in order to do all things that most of us probably take for granted.

We had the good fortune a few weeks ago of attending and acting as the starters at the annual White Lodge Mini Matathon.  We got to see lots of little kids make their way around the Centre with a  level of energy, enthusiasm and effort that was inspiring.  The money raised by us and through other means allows the centre to fund additional services that allowed these kids to race around like road runners !! regardless of their physical and mental challenges. You donation could be the money that paid for the therapist that brings about a little but profound change in one of these children in terms of them learning a new skill or improving an existing one. It is impossible to over emphasise the impact each £1 spent on each child in helping them grow to their next stage of development and independance  and the impact this growth has on the child and their families.

So please dig deep and sponsor us online.  Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.  It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us as White Lodge will receive your money faster. Plus, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. (Please do not tell the Chancellor or he will change his mind and then change the Law!!!)

Thanks a million for your kind support.
