Walk the Wight · 14 May 2006 ·

Mountbatten is the Isle of Wight's only hospice and is known for innovation across the UK and beyond. We provide expert medical, nursing and domiciliary end of life care and bereavement support to people in their own homes, including care homes, in our Newport building and in the local hospital.

Story

The annual Walk the Wight takes place on 14th May. Thousands of people walk the length of the Isle of Wight (about 27 miles) in aid of the local hospice. But walking is for wimps, we cry. Anyone can walk. We will dance the Wight. In Morris kit. With bells on. We will also do a dance or two at each of the checkpoints.

A few fools... I mean "heroic people", are going to do the entire walk. The rest of us are doing it in relay, with each person walking about ten miles of the 27 mile stretch. We are all doing all the dances though.

We would be grateful for any donations, however small, to mark our idiocy. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Earl Mountbatten Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
