"TOUGHEST FOOTRACE ON EARTH"
On the 26th March 2009 we will be departing London to participate in the "Marathon des Sables" which is a 6 day endurance race across the Sahara Desert in Morocco.
The race covers a total distance in the region of 151 miles, the equivalent of almost 6 Marathons in 6 days.
To complete the Marathon des Sables we will have to be self-sufficient for the entire week. Carrying our week's supply of clothes, food, medical kit and sleeping gear on our backs.
In addition to this we will be experiencing midday temperatures of up to 120F, running on uneven rocky ground as well as 15-20% of the distance being in sand dunes.
To make it even easier, on day four we will set off across the barren wilderness on the longest stage to complete a total distance in the region of 50miles (two marathons).
Our aim is to raise enough sponsorship money to build a school in Malawi. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world and is in desperate need for new schools. We have selected a charity called "Build a School" to help us achieve our aim.
As the event is so extreme and our cause so worthy we are asking for your support by making a pledge.
We are sure that you will agree that our aim is a very worthy one.
Thank you for your support.
Alex and William
