Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
As many of you know DebRA is a charity very close to my heart as my niece, Sohana, suffers from Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) - a very rare and painful skin condition which causes the skin to blister and shear at the slightest friction. DebRA do great work supporting sufferers and also funding research to try and find a cure. Find out more here - http://www.debra.org.uk/. So with this in mind, I've decided to raise some money....
Inspired by the GB Olympic Cyclists (8 gold) and spurred on by a recent cycling trip to Basque country in Northern Spain, I've decided to do the 81km (50 mile) Surrey Legs of Steel cyclosportive challenge on 27th Sept 2008. This basically means cycling over a whole load of steep hills - 1600m vertical climb including one 21% gradient (hmmm) - all with a bike with no motor! Have a look at the route/hills here: http://www.fulontri.com/Portals/0/Event/LegsofSteel.pdf
Any donations made will be gratefully received and what's more, Microsoft kindly match all donations (up to £7500) - Thanks Bill!
What your donation could provide:
£1 can provide 'Scratch Mitts' to prevent a baby born with EB from tearing their own skin
£5 can provide a set of easy grip chunky pens to help children hold a pen when their fingers are fused together from repeated scarring.
£10 can buy a tube of 'no sting medical adhesive remover' to help ease the pain of dressing changes.
£25 could pay for one hour of research to bring us closer to finding an effective treatment for EB
£100 is the average cost of dressings needed every 2 days.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: DebRA gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support
