The Willow Walker is an umbrella project
which significantly supports, celebrates and encourages varied meaningful
activity amongst homeless people in Cambridge. This is promoted through
the production of a high quality quarterly magazine with a distribution
of 2000 copies per issue. The
Willow Walker is valued by clients and colleagues within the homeless sector as
well as reaching out to break down public stereotypes of homelessness. More info follows and at www.willowwalker.org
The Willow Walker is embarking on a period of transition as a result of the Editor and sole employee being made redundant by English Churches Housing Group. However there is a real hope for an exciting future for the Willow Walker building upon the many offers of moral, practical and financial support that have been pouring in since this news was announced.
A celebratory autumn edition of the magazine has just been released and with the support of all the people who have donated online and offline the Willow Walker Calendar for 2010 is now printed and ready for sale! You can order your copy/copies online at www.willowwalker.org, proceeds from sales go to Cambridge Link-Up; a community group led by homeless people. Many many thanks to Tessa Youell, Eversheds the Kenneth Miller Trust and many others who have donated to the calendar appeal.
All the agencies working with homeless people in Cambridge will receive a free copy reminding them of the talent and potential of their clients month by month throughout the year. 250 free copies are also given to people living in the homeless hostels and nightshelters as well as those starting their path back into housed living and mainstream life. Every room I've visited always has a copy of the calendar on the wall, often it is the only picture people have in their hostel room or flat.
This Just Giving page will continue to receive donations for the Willow Walker - every little helps to secure its long term future.
Wintercomfort for the homeless are kindly receiving Just Giving Donations on the Willow Walker's behalf.

Homeless people's involvement with the Willow Walker has led directly to the formation
of Cambridge Link-Up in 2007. Cambridge Link-Up is a fully constituted homeless-led community group which is now raising funds and running its own projects with
support from the Editor.
